· ABOUT MITCHELL · UNION-PRINTED SINCE 1960
Two Generations of Velascos. Sixty-Five Years of Printing California.
A Boyle Heights union print shop, family-run since 1960, trusted across sixteen-plus election cycles by Southern California campaigns, labor organizations, and the people who actually answer to voters.
The Mitchell story doesn't start with a slogan.
It starts in 1960, with a press, a phone, and a commitment that hasn’t changed in sixty-five years: answer the phone, hit the deadline, and stand behind every piece that leaves the shop.
Two generations of the Velasco family have run that press. Frank, Jullian, and Kevin have personally signed off on campaign mailers for city council races, slate cards for endorsed candidates, door hangers for GOTV pushes, and union flyers for organizations whose members were on those door hangers a few years later. We’ve printed through sixteen-plus presidential cycles, more local races than we can count, and enough labor convention materials to wallpaper a building.
The family hasn’t changed. The standard hasn’t changed. The work speaks for itself.
WHO WE ARE
A Union Print Shop, End to End.
Mitchell is a fully unionized print house and a longtime member of the Southern California Allied Printing Trades Council (APTC). That means every piece we produce can carry the APTC union bug — the credential most endorsed California campaigns, labor PACs, and government agencies require on their printed materials.
We’re not a commercial shop that “can put a bug on it” when asked. We’re union from the press floor up. Every worker who touches your job is a skilled craftsperson, fairly compensated, working in a safe shop with the training and standards that union membership demands.
When campaign managers, communications directors, and labor leaders choose Mitchell, they’re choosing more than a printer. They’re choosing a vendor whose values line up with the materials going out their door.
WHAT WE PRINT
Built for Campaign Tempo.
Political work has its own rhythm — filing deadlines, mail drop windows, GOTV crunch, debate-night flyers that needed to be at the venue yesterday. Mitchell was built around that rhythm, not adapted to it later.
We print the full campaign arsenal under one roof: slate mailers, door hangers, yard signs, walk pieces, palm cards, push cards, buttons, t-shirts, bumper stickers, and event banners. One vendor, one invoice, one accountability line. Rush jobs are part of our normal workflow, not an exception we charge a premium for and hope to deliver.
When the deadline is tight, you call us first — and we tell you straight whether we can hit it. Sixty-five years has taught us the cost of saying yes to a job we can’t deliver. We don’t do that anymore.
THE PLEDGE
"If it leaves our shop less than perfect, we make it right."
That’s been the Mitchell pledge since the first job rolled off the press in 1960. No invoice gymnastics. No “well, technically it met spec.” If a piece doesn’t meet the standard, we fix it.
That commitment is why Mitchell’s business runs on referrals and repeat clients. Campaigns hand our number to the next campaign. Consultants bring us into new races. Communications directors stay with us across cycles because they know what they’re getting — and what they’re not getting (excuses, missed deadlines, mystery line items).
THE VELASCO FAMILY
The People You'll Actually Talk To.
When you call Mitchell, you’re talking to a Velasco — or to Charles, who’s been running the print floor longer than most political consultants have had careers. No sales rep layer. No call center. No project manager three steps removed from the press.

THE SHOP
Boyle Heights — Where We Print Today.
Mitchell prints out of 127 S Anderson Street in Boyle Heights, where we’ve operated since 2008. The neighborhood has been part of the labor and political history of Los Angeles for over a century — across the river from Downtown LA, deep in the corridor where so much of California’s organized labor movement was built.
The presses run here. The design team works here. Every job is checked here before it leaves. From this floor, we print for campaigns and organizations across Southern California — Los Angeles County, Long Beach, Pasadena, the San Gabriel Valley, the Inland Empire, Orange County, and beyond. Pickup is at the shop. Delivery is coordinated to your campaign timeline.
WHAT MATTERS
Five Things That Haven't Changed in Sixty-Five Years.
1
We Answer the Phone
Sounds like a low bar. Ask anyone who’s run a campaign — it isn’t.
2
Union Bug on Every Piece
No exceptions, no upsells, no asterisks.
3
A Velasco Signs Off
Family-owned isn’t a marketing line. It’s how the shop runs.
4
Deadlines Honored or Declined
We don’t take work we can’t deliver.
5
If It's Not Right, We Fix It
Sixty-five years of repeat clients is the only proof that matters.
